Uptime monitoring for small agencies and MSPs
If you look after websites for other people, uptime monitoring stops being a personal convenience and becomes part of the service you sell. A client's site going down is your problem before it is theirs, and ideally you know about it first. Monitoring built for one site rarely scales to twenty clients cleanly.
What changes when the sites are not yours
- Grouping by client. You need to see status per client, not one long undifferentiated list, so you can answer "is everything of theirs up?" at a glance.
- Routing alerts. A problem with Client A's site should reach the people who handle Client A, not blast your whole team for every blip everywhere.
- Showing your work. Clients rarely see the outages you quietly caught at 2am. A per-client status page or an uptime report turns invisible reliability into something you can point to at renewal time.
Keep the plumbing on the list
Agencies inherit other people's messes: an SSL certificate nobody renewed, a domain about to lapse, an email setup that lands in spam. Those cause just as many "the site is broken" tickets as actual downtime. Watching certificates, domains and email authentication across every client saves you from firefighting the same avoidable issues over and over.
One tool, many clients
VigilVault groups monitors by client, routes alerts per client, and gives each a status page you can share, alongside the vault for holding each client's credentials securely (and handing them back cleanly when an engagement ends). It is monitoring that assumes you are looking after other people's sites, not just your own.
